At 20:22 on Sunday 14th December, SARDA Isle of Man were tasked to assist with the search for a missing male in the west of the Island.

Ben Scott and Search Dog Steve arrived at the rendezvous point alongside navigator Marc Marshall, with Jim MacGregor following shortly after. Mal Stewart coordinated the search from the RV, preparing teams for deployment.

As the teams were beginning to deploy, SARDA IOM utilised specialist technology available to the charity, which helped identify the location of the missing person. The area indicated was then searched by the SARDA team, who were on site when police successfully located the individual.

The team were subsequently stood down at 22:00 hours.

This callout highlights that while SARDA IOM is best known for its search dogs, we have more than one tool available when it comes to locating missing people. Sometimes, the best outcome is achieved before a dog even needs to leave the vehicle — bringing a quicker resolution and reducing risk for everyone involved.

A great result and another example of effective teamwork between SARDA IOM and the Isle of Man Constabulary.
