In the early hours of Saturday morning, 21st June, SARDA Isle of Man was called out at approximately 06:32 to assist in the search for a missing person in the east of the Island.

Three dog teams mobilised quickly and arrived at the rendezvous point to meet with Isle of Man Constabulary. Handlers Ben Scott with Search Dog Steve, Jim MacGregor with Search Dog Ruby, and Olivia Crowe with Search Dog Mop were joined by experienced navigators Will Heap, Mal Stewart, Marc Marshall, and Ffinlo Williams.

After receiving the initial briefing from police officers on scene, the teams were rapidly deployed. Trailing dog Ruby, supported by Jim, Mal and Marc, began working from the RV to follow a potential scent trail. Meanwhile, air scenting dogs Steve and Mop, with their respective teams, were deployed to cover wider areas of open ground identified as relevant to the search.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, the incident was resolved swiftly, and SARDA teams were stood down at approximately 09:00 when the missing person was safely located.

As ever, we’re proud to support the emergency services in helping to bring about positive outcomes for those in need. Huge thanks to all our volunteers who responded and assisted.
